PDT Enhanced Treatments

PDT represents the cutting edge of research in light based medicine, and works in two stages: 
i)a photosensitizer is applied to the skin, and the body converts this into a chemical (often the naturally occurring chemical Protoporphyrin IX or PpIX). 
ii)The PpIX created responds to light within a certain waveband, provided by the Ellipse PR 530 or PL 400 applicators.

 

There are numerous peer-reviewed clinical articles that show the safety and effectiveness of PDT treatments. A large number of these involve using a specific photosensitizer in a treatment such as rejuvenation and acne for which Ellipse systems are an CE-approved light source.
