Omnilux Light Therapy

The word “phototherapy” has its origins in Greek, and means “treatment with light”.  Light has been used since the days of the Ancient Egyptians to assist with healing and general well-being of patients.  The Greeks used it in heliotherapy.  Light therapy has been actively used in Europe in the 19th and 20th century to heal patients suffering from “melancholia” – today known as clinical depression.  In the late 1990’s Whelan and his colleagues, working in the Space Medicine Program for NASA, developed a power LED, which proved helpful in wound healing.

Omnilux LED phototherapy is a natural method of light only skin rejuvenation that stimulates the body’s own natural processes to counteract the effects of aging and to heal faster.  It can used in combination with other treatments, such as Botox, Fillers, Chemical Peels and Microneedling.  It is also an excellent post-procedure treatment to reduce swelling and bruising, and to increase the healing process.

Omnilux LED phototherapy uses a combination of two lights, called Omnilux Revive and Omnilux Plus.

Omnilux Revive offers several benefits, including:

  • Improvement of skin tone and texture
  • Smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces the appearance of crow’s feet
  • Repair of sun damaged skin
  • Firms tired and aged skin
  • Increases moisture retention
  • Control of pigmentation spots
  • Reducing of pore size
  • Healthier looking skin
  • Reduced wrinkles
  • Stimulation of the circulation
  • Repair of elastic fibres

Omnilux Plus offers the following benefits:

  • Increases vascularity
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Increases lymphatic system activity
  • Increases RNA and DNA synthesis
  • Increases fibroblastic activity

A treatment course of two treatments per week, over a period of two weeks is recommended.  Thereafter a single booster treatment every four to six weeks might be necessary.

Best results are seen at 8 to 12 weeks.

Each session is 20 minutes long, if not used in combination with other treatments, and is non-invasive, non-ablative and safe with no down time and no side-effects.
