How does it work
Hyperhidrosis is sweating well beyond what the body needs to regulate temperature. It affects the underarms, hands and feet most commonly, and it can be genuinely distressing day to day.
Injections into the affected area block the nerve signals that tell the sweat glands to work, and those glands are overactive in hyperhidrosis. A numbing agent can be used first to reduce discomfort.
Patients are often told the only alternative to stronger antiperspirants and absorbent pads is surgery to remove the sweat glands. That is not the case, and most people would rather avoid it.
